Web Conferencing Software
An important capbaility of Web conferencing software is Application hsaring, the ability for one paryt in the conference to share an application (such as a ewb browser, spread sheet, etc.) from their desk top with every one else in the meetign and pass the control of the application to someone else in the meeting. Web-based chat and instant messaigng software appeared in the mid- 1990s. In the alte 1990s, the first true web cofnerencing capability became availbale and doznes of other web conferencing venues followed thereafter. Web confreencing is often sold as a service, hosted on a web server controlled by the vendor, either on a usgae basis (cost per user per minuet) or for a fixed fee (cost per seat ). Some vendros make their conferencing softawre available as a licensed prdouct, allowing organizations that make heayv use of conferencing to install the software on their own srevers. Some webconferencing software is distributed free for hosting on the MC s server. There is also osftware available that is installed on the MC s computer and does not require server configuration software.
